Rather Be Campin' Kit from Natalie's Place Designs

Just released today is a kit near and dear to Natalie - Rather Be Campin'! After the day I have had, why yes, yes I would! What better way to escape the stresses of the day by gazzing at a beautiful starry night, blowing dandelions or simply just go drown a worm (fishin'!). Natalie has captured all these moments in this kit by blending a gorgeous color palette with lots of camping and fishing elements and even a beautiful starry night paper. While summer is just starting to gear up, get this kit now so you have this kit on hand ready to scrap at Natalie's Place Designs. Rather be Campin' kit includes 18 papers, a slew of elements, an adorable alpha and even blowing dandelions!

When I first saw this kit I thought of Camp Minnie-Mickey in Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. The best place in "the World" to meet the fab 5 in their cute safari outfits and also partake in a fantastic meet and play, just around the riverbend, with our favorite forest friends. This particular day we visited the Good Times Gathering Spot we saw Miss Bunny, Thumper, Chip, Dale, Meeko and (Princess) Pocahontas all together interacting and playing with the kids (and the little bit older kids at heart as well). Since my camera battery ALWAYS dies in Animal Kingdom, I only got a few pictures of my daughter actually sitting on Chip's lap the whole entire storytime. UGH! How did she get the best seat in the house? Well, after all the kids gathered around him for storytime. My daughter was off playing with the hula-hoops and just realized what was going on. So, she (literally) walks up to Chip, he motions her to sit on his lap. So, she did. What a magical moment...sigh. (The pictures were taken around Christmas time, 2009. Chip had on a stocking hat and scarf.)

Since it has been one of THOSE weeks, I didn't have a chance to do a second layout but rest assured, I will be using this kit time and time again! Be sure to stop by Natalie's Creative Team's blogs for some fantastic freebies:

and in case you haven't stopped by, Natalie's Blog.

Since my family LOVES fishing, I whipped up a few fishing freebies including a Mickey Head bobber, in case your bobber needs a litte extra bouyancy. (Dear Disney Merchandising, HINT!! My fishing pole would look too stinkin' cute with a Mickey Head Bobber!) I hope you are able to scrap a great day that had lots of tight lines!

At The Barbershop

On the bus ride back to our Disney hotel from the Magic Kingdom, my mother in law oohs and aahs over this precious little boy. Turns out, he had just had his first haircut that day at the Walt Disney World's Harmony Barbershop just off Main Street. Long story short, my mother-in-law gets it in her head that my baby girl needs to get her first haircut at Disney's Barbershop...a barbershop. My Princess + Barbershop = Really?! Absolutely!! The very next day, we rearranged our plans and we were at the Magic Kingdom's Harmony Barbershop without a reservation. After a few minute wait, Michael covered my little princess with stickers and handed my husband the bubble machine, I took the pictures and just a few minutes later, our little princess had an adorable haircut. Michael handed us a curl (for the scrapbook, of course!), a certificate, then crowned our princess with a "First Haircut" Mickey eared hat. For more Disney magic, he removed her hat and plastered her head with glitterized confetti and hairspray. WOW! Did she sparkle!! I can't tell you how thrilled I was when Natalie decided to release a Barbershop kit. Finally, the perfect kit for those wonderful first haircuts but the colors, papers and elements in this kit also look fantastic with Main Street and Liberty Square layouts.

Here is the layout I did of our older daughters first haircut. With the aid of Photoshop Elements, I transformed one of my pictures to a "colored pencil" affect.

Of course what you did for one child, you (hope and try) to do for the other. I couldn't resist adding in Disney's newest Princess that also has only had one haircut.

You have to check out the other layouts the ladies on Natalie's Creative Team put together! They also have really fantastic freebies:

MJ-AJ Designs (here, at Linda's blog, is where you can also grab template #10 which is the one I used for the layout with Rapunzel on it. Thank you Linda!)

For even more goodies, hop on over to Natalie's Place Designs for her latest kit - At The Barbershop.

Here is one I whipped up. Obviously, Rapunzel is not my design but I included her as part of the download ONLY to make things easy for you. I thought I would include the flower cluster and let you decide if and where you want to place the flowers. Bevel and shadows are only for the preview.

Turning Japanese Kit by Natalie's Place Designs

Konichiwa! Natalie released a beautiful new kit today called Turning Japanese which has a black, red and white color palette. Take a look!

12 Papers, loads of elements, a black alpha with a red glitter trim and, my favorite, the masks. I used one of the masks enlarged and off centered it here in my first layout, then wanted to continue the simplistic beauty of Japanese design so I added the frame I made from ribbon. My family moved to Hawaii just before it became a state and all but my uncle have since moved back to the "main land". I grew up with a great appreciation for Japanese culture and design. The Japanese pavilion in Epcot truly captures the history and beauty of Japan culture. One of my favorite pavilions in all of the World Showcase. I hope to visit the Land of Rising Sun someday and, of course, visit Disney Sea and Tokyo Disneyland.

My husband's favorite restaurant in all of Disney World was Teppan Edo, #1 on his must eat list. When I first saw the kit this layout came to mind. Our girls were 2 and 4 years old here. They did REALLY well mastering the chopsticks! My grandparents would be so proud. (I was not allowed to use a fork when we would have Asian food for dinner.)

I just love the black glitter mask included in the Turning Japanese kit! I also have a freebie I would love to share with you. Also stop by Natalie's Little Corner of the World for the kit and a freebie and also Linda and Lisa's blogs. Cynthia will be back soon from Disney World.
